In the meantime, join me for the Album of the Day on Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday's album is High and Ridin' by Wayne Cochran and his C.C. Riders, a good big band album from an unexpected source. Arrangements by Tony Klatka, compositions by Horace Silver, Charles Mingus, Oliver Nelson, Stevie Wonder, and...Bobby Gentry! The version of Ode to Billie Joe is very tasty.
Thursday's album is Live at the Jazz Workshop, the debut album by vocalist Kitty Margolis. Excellent start for a fine singer who has gone on to become one of the premier voices of the San Francisco area.
